Competencies
We are aiming to divide doctors into 3 groups depending on their pre-hospital and in-hospital experience. To enable the divison into the 3 groups there are a list of competencies which need to be completed (or demonstrated) for each level. Doctors may only act in the role of observer until they are signed off to atleast level 1. The aim of this is to allow members get appropriate training to develop their skills and experience in pre-hospital care. It is not envisiged that all members will be able to be competent at level 3 as this requires in-hospital anaesthetic training.
Members can have skills signed off by an appropriate doctor or GWAA paramedic. Some of the skills can be signed off be demonstration of completion of an appropriate course (e.g. APLS for IO access with a Cook needle)
It has been agreed with GWAS that members will be covered to use skills up to the level which they have been signed off to.
